Gulbahar was born in Eastern Turkistan, which is located in the heart of the Silk Road (Uygur origin)  She was raised in an Artistic family and spent most of her childhood time in her father’s studio where musical instruments were created by her father. Shapes and sounds of musical instruments inspired Gulbahar to create her own unique world.

She began to draw at the age of five. After graduating Art school and Academy of Fine Arts in former Russia she quickly became a member of Artist Union –USSR.
In many exhibits and shows she was already known as a professional and a unique female artist.
In 1994 she moved to United States with her daughter where she found more artistic freedom. In her student years she was fascinated by Russian artists of early 20th century such as Kandinsky. His concept is” human is part of the universe” Where space and energy can be created on a canvas. Gulbahar also studied Eastern Sufi philosophy, which she now combines to connect East and West.
Gulbahar feels the importance to create universal happiness and harmony in her paintings.
